Keeping Your Blog Alive

Some of you have been posting on your blogs and using them regularly. I love that! I would like to propose that we all post every two weeks. I will continue to assign topics but if there is no topic then what you post about is up to you. By doing this it will keep your blogs fresh and you will be required to process what is happening for you in the studio on a regular basis. We can discuss this as a class before it becomes a requirement. I look forward to your thoughts.

A Refreshing

As I was checking my reading list to see what was up in the blogosphere, I surfed around to your blogs (those of you who have posted recently) and then I checked in with the folks I follow. There is a woman, near Boston, who is a painter that primarily uses a palette knife to paint. I first fell in love with some miniature palette knife paintings and have casually followed her blog from there. Today I was checking out some recent work on her blog, one piece she posted was a 6" x 8" view of Trinity Church in the heart of Back Bay. She was sent the small canvas last week and given everything going on with the Boston area she decided to paint this community symbol. It is a lovely painting but that is not what caught my attention. This lovely painting made me want to run outside and paint! COOKIES!!! When confronted with the choice of a favorite food (or ingredient) we all had to think about the limitations of presenting it in the studio environment. Fortunately for me, my favorite food is a discreet package of all the flavors and ingredients that I love the most. Butter, eggs, sugar, flour, and chocolate are the stuff of life. The smell of a Tollhouse cookie baking, is a source of comfort and joy. As the first link in a Consenses chain, I recommend just choosing one image to start your work. Good luck class, and have fun!
